Day Chapter #479, Order of the Eastern Star

The members of the Order of the Eastern Star are dedicated Masonically affiliated women and men who sincerely reflect the spirit of fraternal love and the desire to work together for good. It gives them the opportunity to give a part of their time to many projects that benefit mankind.  Our lessons are scriptural, our purposes are beneficent, and our teachings are moral.  Membership is open to Master Masons in good standing with their Lodge, and women who are related to a Master Mason who is in good standing with their Lodge.

Black River Lodge #786 is proud to be the home of Day Chapter #479 OES.  Meetings are held monthly on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday at 7:30pm with the exception of January and February when the chapter meets only on the 1st Tuesday. Day Chapter is recessed all of July and August. The chapter is located in District 4 which encompasses Ashland, Lorain, Wayne and Medina Counties. Our very existence depends on adding new members and keeping the current membership active. The doors of friendship swing wide for all who enter our portals and we would welcome any of the all Masons and their spouses or related kin as members!

The Grand Chapter of Ohio, Order of the Eastern Star supports six specific charities; Cancer Research, Heart Research, all three Masonic Youth Organizations, The Ohio Eastern Star Home in Mt. Vernon, the Scottish Rite Children's Dyslexia Centers and ESTARL, which stands for Eastern Star Training Awards for Religious Leaders. ESTARL is a scholarship program that encompasses all areas of religious training and is the main charity of The General Grand Chapter.  We as a chapter are also locally charitable by donating our time and money to local charities, and local familites who are in need of relief.

The initial cost of petitioning is $20 with annual dues of $35. It's a real bargain when one considers the fun, the fellowship, the loving kindness shared, the opportunities to reach out to the local community and beyond with charitable works, and the feeling of being a part of something special. The ties that bind Masonic brothers together are the same ties that bind Eastern Stars together. We share an invisible bond stronger than steel that truly binds us together in a gentle caring love for each other. Don't hesitate to ask for a petition from those brothers who are OES members!
